HK - Macau, Day 5 (Aug 25, 2014)

by - 4:49 PM

Welcome to Macau! We were directly looking for taxi to go to the hotel. We stayed at 5footway.inn. The driver dropped us at Sofitel hotel. I was confused at first why he dropped us there, and turns out it is the drop off point if we want to go to 5footway.inn. After telling the bellboy who helped us with the luggage, he seemed to already get used to this, so he kindly directed us the way to our hotel.

After checking in, we were taken to our room. It's on the 4th floor and we had to take the stairs to go up because there's no elevator. But I love the room so much. It is clean, spacious, and very bright since it's white dominated (lights, bed covers, and walls). Plus, the wi-fi connection is very good and available in the whole building. It is much better than I expected for a budget hotel. I would definitely have a great stay here, I thought.

Feeling too comfortable in the room, we relaxed for a while as well as deciding where to go. I already listed some places and my dad took brochures from downstairs. Since it's near Ruins of St. Paul and Senado Square, we decided to go there.

The map was quite helping even though I was a bit confused at first because we passed an alley where there weren't many people and the stores were closed. I just kept moving because I found signs that led us to Ruins of St. Paul and Senado Square. Suddenly, there was a sign of life. At least I finally found crowds of people. I walked further and was really happy when I saw this crowded alley. There's food everywhere and I was so excited! You'll find lots of Koi Kei bakery. Once you find one, you'll find again a few meters away, and again and again after that. And I don't know why there were many people at each store.

At the end of the alley, I finally found Ruins of St. Paul's. I really enjoyed my time here. Since there are many food to choose, I decided to try something. They are too tempting to resist. I sat on the stairs. The weather wasn't too hot but when I sat, my booty was like being cooked. Freaking hot! It was a nice afternoon indeed.

Pork fillets at Koi Kei Bakery. One is more than enough to be eaten
by three of us. You could try it first before deciding which to buy!

Walked further to Senado Square

Green Tea Red Bean Sundae

Lychee Punch

Here comes the night view. I couldn't wait to see the lights coming from the casino hotels. While waiting for it, I didn't expect that I would see a protest/demonstration near Grand Lisboa hotel. I didn't know what was going on but I wasn't panicked because it wasn't that chaotic. Somehow I enjoyed it because I rarely encounter this event, only see it on TV.

And this is how I ended my first night in Macau
