Amertha Bhavani Goes to Spain, Day 11 (Aug 11, 2015) - Valverde de Leganés
Workshop day 3. We had joined several workshops before, and now it is our turn to give the workshop! We were excited, yet also nervous at the same time. We taught the most favourite dance for the foreigners which is Saman, or the Thousand Hands. We divided them into groups. Since the dance is quite fast, to make it easier we slowed it down. I must say they were good catching the moves. However, most of them were hurt because we have to kneel all the time. They were not used to it. At the end, the groups were combined to make such a long line and we danced together.
After that, the workshop was followed by Chile. This is the one I had been anticipating the most. The girls had to really let out their inner woman. The moves is about shaking your hips. For the guys, they had to be very manly and a bit rough in the expression. An old lady taught the girls, and she was very enthusiastic teaching us.
We call it a day with Chile. After being paired in the workshop, we were performing together that night. We performed in a city called Valverde de Leganés. As we arrived, we spotted some kids hanging around. As it was getting darker, more kids came. They were very excited approaching us. Despite the language barrier, we still got along. At first, they didn't believe we are older than them since our heights are almost the same with them. They are really into social media, especially Instagram. Besides asking to take pictures, they asked for our Instagram and insisted to follow them back. Thank God my phone was in my bag :P.
It was a chilly night. I really forgot to bring my jacket. Couldn't imagine the Chilean still wearing their costume like that. |
