WORLD OF NADA

We performed in the afternoon so in the morning we walked around Centrum. There was a big drugstore called Rossmann and we all went crazy trying on make up. Some of us bought something and some only put the testers on our face, including me :P.

Had lunch at pizzeria. Again, the price was very reasonable.
The fungi pizza is good and that spinach gnocchi is amazing!!

We went to Takko again and I bought another top. We prepared ourselves for the performance at the hostel. We were taken to a restaurant by bus. There was no changing room for us so we waited outside and it was very windy and freaking cold! We hugged and did everything to warm ourselves. We performed Zapin, Mangetem, and Saman. The Mexicans also performed here. We did well but the audience wasn’t that enthusiastic than other days.

Such a long waiting so we took pictures instead

Thank God we didn't have to wake up early this morning, but still, I was very sleepy. Today we performed at a school but the audience came from outside and it was less crowded than any other day before. We performed Zapin, Samba Sunda, and Saman.
Big breakfast. What's under that chicken and bread
doesn't look appetizing and it doesn't taste good for me either,

After performing, Kuba said he had small surprise for us. We went to a hotel to have lunch first.
Lunch was much better than breakfast

I didn't expect we were taken to the main park again. At first, we were a bit traumatic about the previous night’s inconvenience. Turns out that our bad feeling was all wrong. We were actually taken there to receive Best Group award from the festival’s committee! The Armenians, on the other side, received the same award from the audience. We were so not prepared at all to be called on stage. But despite our bad looks that afternoon, we were so happy and proud of ourselves! We took pictures with the others and the sad part is to say goodbye with Marishka and her family.

With our huge trophy!

We hope to see you again our sweet angel, Marishka!

That night we were bored so some of us went to Klaufland because the other stores were already closed and here's what I bought:
Love that banana nectar, healthy and taste good!

Today is the parade! We gathered with other groups in front of the Major office building. We waited so looooong until the parade started, so we used that time to take pictures, singing and dancing with the others. We learned dances from each other. Finally the parade began. For the opening, the major gave welcome speech and one by one, each country gave short performances. Then we walked around the city with our costumes. I felt like a Miss Universe waving people I was passing. We had some stops where we had to perform. I love the people's ensthusiasm, they were very excited to see us and really appreciate world's culture. In Centrum, I saw Paula at the bar and we waved at each other.
Breakfast

It was Indonesia's Independence Day. We were still happy to have
the celebration here with our group by singing many songs.

With Ximena, the Mexican girl. We got feathers on our heads!

That night, we performed again at the park. We performed Goyang Ngamprok, Mangetem, and Saman. We really nailed the Saman! The crowd cheered louder and it was very successful! We were tired and wanted to go back to the hostel but Kuba said we still had to be there. He wasn't actually sure what we should have been waiting for. We ended up wasting our time there for something wasn't important. The good side is I could watch the other groups' performance. I hadn't seen them all. The Armenians really caught the attention. The women danced beautifully with many costumes while the men did amazing tricks.

This is Marishka. She is the daughter of the festival's chief. She's such a sweet girl who really adores us, the Indonesian girls. She regularly visited us at the backstage and was always happy to see us. Even though we didn't understand what we knew that whatever we said she wouldn't understand, we still had that strong connection with each other. She thought we were princesses to her, and she's like an angel to us :).

Today we had our first performance and it was in the morning. We left the hostel at 9am. Since this is our very first performance, we spared a lot of time for preparation so we woke up at 4am!! Most of us just washed our face and brushed our teeth. We had breakfast and while waiting for the bus, we took some pictures at the hostel then we left. It took around an hour to go to the place so we slept on the bus.

Second breakfast. That chocolate milk is very nice.

As we arrived, there was nobody yet but we were ready so we put our costumes tidily because we need fast-changing. Before us, it was Mexican's turn. The women costumes are interesting with colorful bright colors and big, flowy skirt. And there were women from which country I forgot who performed something with swords. Their performance was tough and intense. I was happy to finally meet other group and watch their performances.

And it's time for our performance! We have 5 dances, they are: Zapin Rebana (Melayu), Samba Sunda (West Java) - girly and flirty, Goyang Ngamprok (DKI Jakarta) - happiness, Mangetem (Kalimantan) - harvest thanksgiving, and Saman (Aceh) which is known as 'Thousand Hands' dance. Today we performed all of the dances. We had fun performing despite the hot weather. The sun was above us which made the surface feel very hot but we still made it.

We went back to the hostel to rest because we had another performance that night. We still had a few hours so some us decided to go to Klaufland. I didn't care when people looking at us awkwardly because we still had our makeup on. I found some interesting food and bought them. Near Klaufland, there is a complex consists of stores. The biggest clothing store is called Takko. The clothes are nice and really affordable. Plus, they were having a sale! I bought a top and we went back to the hostel. I supposed to and wanted to sleep but I couldn't. I ended up only closing my eyes.

Lunch

Dinner

We went to the second venue which is a big park. That was the main venue of the festival here in Å umperk. There were lots of people and we met more groups from another countries. It was fun to watch traditional costumes and culture from around the world in front of my eyes. Again, I felt like I was a celebrity because people wanted to take pictures. Tonight, we performed Zapin and Samba Sunda only. I felt amazing on stage with lights and cheer from the audience.

After performing, I met a girl who was very interested with us. Her name is Paula. She's a Czech and originally comes from Å umperk. Her English is very fluent so we talked a lot. She is very nice. She works in a bar in Centrum. We had a parade the next day and we really hoped to meet each other because I definitely passed her bar. There were lots of food stands that night and she guided me about the food because I was very hungry. I bought pork sausage and beer. I expected the sausage to have an amazing taste, but nothing special. It was very cold that night and the beer helped heaten my body. The night ended with spectacular fireworks.
